The Kumasi Technical University collective of the Socialist Movement of Ghana (SMG) extends its greetings to the progressive people of Ghana, Africa, and the World on Founder’s Day, which marks the 112th birthday of Osagyefo
Dr Kwame Nkrumah.
In September 2009, the late president John Fiifi Evans Atta Mills declared September 21st as Founder’s Day in honor of Ghana’s First President, Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah. This day was celebrated as a public holiday
since the declaration was made. Unfortunately, on, the election of the neo-colonial President, Nana Addo
Danquah Akufo-Addo, he moved Founder’s Day to August 4th and christened September 21st as Nkrumah Memorial Day.
We see this move, as part of the effort to rewrite the history of Ghana and to deny Nkrumah his rightful place in Ghanaian history as the Founder of the modern Republic of Ghana.
We unreservedly condemn this shameful attempt by the Danquah-Busiasts led by Nana Akuffo Addo to continue the denigration of Nkrumah and what he stood for and insist that September 21 should be restored as Founder’s Day.
