Seidu Agongo Founder of Class Media Group, Alhaji Seidu Agongo, has emphasised the importance of credibility, accuracy and accountability in journalism, describing trust as the foundation of a successful media organisation.

Speaking at the launch of Accra TV, the latest addition to the Class Media Group, Alhaji Agongo said the station’s success would depend largely on its ability to earn and sustain the confidence of its audience.

In a speech themed “Trust Is Our True Test,” he noted that trust had come under increasing strain in Ghana and across the world, with citizens questioning the motives of leaders and demanding greater transparency from institutions.
According to him, the challenge facing society is no longer a lack of information but the difficulty in determining what is credible, transparent and true.

He said the media had a crucial responsibility to bridge the gap between institutions and the public by providing accurate information and promoting public understanding.

“The media serves as the bridge between institutions and the people, between facts and public understanding. But that bridge can only stand if it is built on trust,” he stated.

Alhaji Agongo maintained that credibility could not be demanded but must be earned through accuracy, fairness, consistency and accountability.

He urged media practitioners to verify information before publication, prioritise responsible reporting over sensationalism and demonstrate the willingness to correct errors whenever they occur.

The Class Media Group founder further stressed that the organisation’s greatest asset was not its studios, cameras or transmission equipment but the credibility it had built over the years.

He expressed confidence that Accra TV would uphold the same values as it joins the media group, pledging that the station would serve as a trusted platform for facts, dialogue and accountability.

“As we launch Accra TV this evening, let me reassure our stakeholders, particularly our audience and viewers, that we are committing ourselves to being a trusted platform for facts, dialogue and accountability. We will be a platform that listens, informs and serves,” he said.

Drawing on his experience as a businessman and entrepreneur, Alhaji Agongo observed that the true test of trust lies not in how institutions conduct themselves when circumstances are favourable, but in their willingness to remain transparent when doing so becomes difficult.

He said building a culture of trust was essential to national development, noting that societies prosper, businesses succeed and democracy flourishes when confidence and credibility are sustained.

Alhaji Agongo expressed gratitude to the staff and audience of the Class Media Group for their loyalty, dedication and support, which he said had helped the organisation navigate both challenging and favourable periods.

He also thanked stakeholders and partners for believing in the group’s vision and called for a collective commitment to strengthening trust in the media and society.

The launch of Accra TV marks an addition to the Class Media Group’s media portfolio, with a pledge to serve audiences through credible information, meaningful dialogue and responsible journalism.

Alhaji Agongo concluded by reaffirming his commitment to the growth of the media group and Ghana, expressing hope that the new station would contribute to building a society where truth and trust remain central to public life.
