(Marxist) of Kenya.
The Socialist Movement of Ghana (SMG) is alarmed by the report of an attempt to
assassinate Comrade Booker Omole, General Secretary of the Communist Party
(Marxist) of Kenya.
Our information is that on Saturday, January 11, 2025, gun-men suspected to be State
Security Operatives stormed the house of Comrade Booker and attempted to kill him.
This was followed by the arrests of Comrade Mwaivu Kaluka, National Chairman and
other cadres of the party in Mombasa.
We note that over the last few months the Kenya authorities have used brutal force
against citizens protesting against the pursuit of neo-liberal policies under the
guidance of the International Monetary Funds (IMF). Many activists who took part in
these protests have simply disappeared with tens reported killed.
The SMG unreservedly condemns these reckless acts of intimidation and violence
against the working people of Kenya who are rejecting their neo-colonial enslavement.
We declare our full solidarity with the Communist Party (Marxist) and the working
people of Kenya who are engaged in this heroic struggle for better conditions of work
and life. We are convinced beyond doubt that the Ruto government will be held
accountable for all its crimes.
