The Socialist Movement of Ghana (SMG) extends its congratulations to the heroic youth, women, and workers of Senegal on their recent victory in the presidential election. Despite the challenges of arrest, brutality, and suppression of press freedom, the people of Senegal have demonstrated unwavering resilience and determination. They have bravely stood up for democracy and freedom and we salute their heroic efforts. We commend their courage in the face of adversity and commend their unwavering commitment to what is right.
We extend our congratulations to President-elect Bassirou Diomaye Faye on his electoral victory, which appears to represent a new chapter for Senegal. We hope that this new era brings hope, progress, and justice. We urge all forces of progress in Senegal to continue their struggle towards achieving a better world, even after they have achieved electoral victory.
The SMG sees this victory as opening up more possibilities for our joint struggle against all forms of exploitation of the working people in our sub-region and beyond under the broad banner of Pan Africanism.
