“We spend lots of money on European football and our new negotiations on TV rights should benefit African football. The face of African football will never be the same again,” said Dr Patrice Motsepe, elected unopposed as president of the Confederation of African Football.

The billionaire mining magnate succeeds Ahmad Ahmad who was elected four years ago but suspended last November on corruption charges. Motsepe is the eighth president in the 64-year history of the continent’s governing body.
