Information gathered so far indicates that the member of parliament for Dormaa West in the Bono region has been referred to Tamale Teaching Hospital after he sustained a fatal accident this afternoon. Hon. Vincent Oppong Asamoah according to the information was on his way to Accra after attending a funeral in Bolgatanga.
On the Pong-Tamale road, the MP who was in the company of his body guard lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a sharp curve. The vehicle veered into the other lane crushing two passengers who were traveling in the opposite direction. The vehicle went further to hit another tricycle killing the rider, a 57 year old Adam Musah instantly.
The MP and body guard sustained severe injuries and were conveyed with the two other passengers to Savelugu Municipal Hospital. But due to the severity of their injuries, the MP and his body were referred to Tamale Teaching Hospital for further management. The two other passengers were Peter Nyagri and Rukaya Awemoni.
Hon. Vincent Oppong Asamoah was elected member of parliament for Dormaa West on the ticket of the opposition NDC. He beat the incumbent Alhaji Ali Maiga by winning 53% of the valid votes obtained in the parliamentary election last year.
