Election 2024: Janet Nabla will not challenge disqualification – PNP

Read Time: < 1 minute

Janet Asana Nabla, the presidential candidate of the People’s National Party (PNP), has announced that she will not pursue legal action regarding her disqualification from the upcoming December presidential race.

The Electoral Commission (EC) disqualified Nabla due to her failure to correct errors in her nomination form.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the PNP expressed its disagreement with the EC’s reasons for disqualifying their candidate but confirmed that Nabla will not seek redress through the courts.

“The party upon consulting its members across the country has chosen to let it go, and rather concentrate on receiving its final certificate to enable it to operate as a full-fledged political party,” it added.

The PNP noted that as a political party, it was not limited to contesting elections, but rather educating citizens to help them make an informed decision about political issues, government policies and their impact on society.

“In addition, the PNP shall hold the government of the day accountable by reviewing policies, proposing alternatives, and ensuring transparency,” it added.
