Alhaji Ahmed Nuhu Zaruk, the Parliamentary aspirant in the Bimbilla constituency whose name conspicuously went missing from the list of aspirants to be interviewed in the upcoming NPP primaries, has been cleared by the party.
MyNewsGh.com gathered that the tension surrounding the controversy regarding the aspirant compelled the party to clear him to be interviewed as scheduled to avoid bad publicity for the party in the Northern region.
A press conference organized by Alhaji Abukari Umar, a Lead Member of the Campaign Team of Alhaji Ahmed Nuhu Zaruk, indicated that the General Secretary of the NPP, Justin Kodua Frimpong had a discussion with the aspirant and assured him that he would be part of the vetting list.
According to him, the Northern Regional Secretary of the NPP, Prof. Hudu Zakaria also called to invite Alhaj Ahmed Nuhu Zaruk for the vetting of aspirants scheduled today Thursday, January 4, 2024.
“The Northern Regional Secretary of the NPP called to invite Alhaji Ahmed Nuhu Zaruk for the vetting at 3 pm”.
Alhaji Abukari Umar, however, called on the supporters of Alhaji Ahmed Nuhu Zaruk to remain calm because their preferred candidate stands for peace and transparency.
It will be recalled that Alhaji Ahmed Nuhu Zaruk name went missing from the list of aspirants to be interviewed even though he had filed his nomination earlier.
The aspirant’s supporters burnt car tyres, vandalized the party office and some properties to register their displeasure about the situation.
They accused National and Regional executives of the New Patriotic Party(NPP) of masterminding their aspirant’s name removal in order to ensure that incumbent MP, Dominic Nitiwul goes unopposed.
The NPP supporters threatened to vote skirt and blouse in the 2024 general election should the party impose a candidate on them.
