A private citizen and an employee of the Electoral Commission (EC), Joseph Blankson Adumadzie, has submitted a formal petition to President John Dramani Mahama seeking the removal of EC Chairperson Jean Mensa and her two deputies, Dr. Bossman Eric Asare (Deputy Chairperson, Corporate Services) and Mr. Samuel Tettey (Deputy Chairperson, Operations).
In a statement issued on Monday, 24 November 2025, Mr. Adumadzie confirmed that he had filed a petition under Article 146 of the 1992 Constitution, which sets out the procedure for the removal of certain public office holders.
While he did not disclose the full details of the document—as required under constitutional provisions—he revealed that it cites 12 counts of alleged misbehaviour, including cronyism, abuse of office, and gross incompetence.
According to Mr. Adumadzie, these actions have collectively undermined public confidence in the Electoral Commission and pose a serious threat to the credibility, independence, and integrity of Ghana’s electoral processes.
He described the petition as being filed “in the supreme interest of the 1992 Constitution, accountable governance, and the preservation of the dignity of the Electoral Commission.”
Mr. Adumadzie has called on the President to fulfil his constitutional duty by referring the petition to the Chief Justice to determine whether a prima facie case exists.
The petitioner reiterated his commitment to upholding transparency, fairness, and integrity within Ghana’s democratic institutions.
