Vice President, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has called for sweeping legal reforms to strengthen Ghana’s fight against corruption, urging Parliament to pass legislation that would institutionalize unexplained wealth orders (UWOs) and introduce the principle of reverse burden of proof into the national Constitution.
Speaking at the National Anti-Corruption Conference, the Vice President stressed the need for concrete, enforceable tools that can deter public and private sector corruption.
“We must legislate and universalize unexplained wealth orders, extending their application to both public officials and private citizens while anchoring the principle of reverse burden of proof in our Constitution,” she said.
