Dr Emmanuel Owusu-Ansah, a veteran sports administrator and an ex-official of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, has passed on.
Dr Owusu-Ansah’s demise was confirmed by the President of Ghana Armwrestling Federation, Charles Osei Assibey on X, (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, April 23, 2024.
In the post, he labelled the revered sports personality as an ‘encyclopedia of sports’.
“Dr. Emmanuel Owusu-Ansah has sadly kicked the bucket. The COO of Accra 2023 African Games, Sports Administrator and Coach was the former NSA Chief Executive. Dr. Owusu Ansah is another encyclopedia of sports, gone.”
Dr Owusu-Ansah played key and diverse roles in the development of Ghana and Africa.
Some significant positions he held include Director of the Sports Directorate of the University of Ghana, a member of the ECOWAS Body of Sports Experts, and a member of the team of experts who drafted the AU’s Sports Development Policy.
He was also the Chief Operating Officer for the 2023 African Games hosted in Ghana.
