NAPO PETITIONED Over Demolition Of NPP Guru’s 10 Houses By The Bawumias And Ramadans

Read Time: 3 minutes

Barely six months after 10 houses of apartments owned by New Patriotic Party (NPP) financier, Mr. George Oti Bonsu were pulled down by a joint team of military, national security, police and landguards in a land feud with the Ramadans, the family of the Second Lady, Samira Bawumia, a call has been made to the party’s running mate, Mathew Opoku Prempeh to ensure justice.

It will be recalled that in April this year the apartment flats estimated to cost several millions of dollars were pulled down in what was considered as vendetta by the second Lady’s family over Oti Bonsu’s financial support for Kennedy Agyapong’s botched presidential ambition.

In July this year, some influential NPP groups petitioned President Akufo-Addo to intervene resolve the fracas between the Ramadan family led by Abu Ramadan and George Onti Bonsu, the party’s financier.

The latest to make similar such appeal are the chiefs, elders and people of Sekyedumase who have called on Dr. Mathew Opoku-Prempeh popularly referred to as NAPO to ensure justice and fair compensation for Mr. George Oti Bonsu.

Dr. Mathew Opoku-Prempeh

Nana Antwi Boasiako II, the Sekyedumasehene, in a petition on behalf of the Chiefs in the Sekyedumase Traditional Council and the people of Sekyedumase, petitioned NAPO saying, “We call on Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the Vice Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), to intervene for a fair judgment and possible compensation for the people of Sekyedumase, to maintain peace with the party.

He expressed the community’s displeasure, disappointment, and frustration regarding the demolition of the 10 flats of apartments  belonging to their son, Mr. George Oti Bonsu, on April 7, 2024, in Accra.

“The entire Sekyedumase was in mourning when the news reached us, especially given that this dispute involves both the family of the Second Lady and our son, both of whom are strong members of the New Patriotic Party,” Nana Antwi Boasiako II stated.

The youth of Sekyedumase initially planned a demonstration to express their displeasure, but thanks to the timely intervention of the Sekyedumase Traditional Council, they were calmed down.

“Mr. Vice President-to-be, all we are asking is for you to intervene for a fair judgment and possible compensation, so that the people of Sekyedumase can be at peace with the party,” he appealed.

Mr. George Oti Bonsu, he noted, is one of the few citizens of the land who consistently supports the town’s development and actively keeps the Sekyedumase NPP engaged.

“Please help us restore the smiles on the faces of our people. We are counting on your cooperation”, the petition read.

This is the full text of the petition:

24th August 2024.
Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh
The vice presidential candidate.
Ghana
Dear Sir,
A PETITION LETTER.
On behalf of the Chiefs in Sekyedumase Traditional council and the people of Sekyedumase, I write to register our displeasure, disappointment and angst when we heard of the demolition of the 10 buildings belonging to our son Mr George Oti Bonsu on the 7th April 2024 in Accra.
The entire Sekyedumase was in the state of mourning when the news broke to us, most importantly when it was between the family of the 2nd lady and our son which both are strong members of the New Patriotic Party.
Our youth planned a demonstration to express their displeasure but for the timely intervention of the traditional council of Sekyedumase.
Mr vice president to be, all we are asking you to do for Nananum and the Sekyedumase people is to intervene for a fair judgement and possible compensation for the people of Sekyedumase to be at peace with the party.
George Oti Bonsu is one of the few citizens of our land who supports the town development and he is always keeping the Sekyedumase NPP active.
Kindly help us keep the smile on the face of our people again.
Counting on your cooperation.
Yours Sincerely

Nana Antwi Boasiako II,
Sekyedumasehenex
