On this day in 1801 Toussaint Louverture became governor of the island of Hispaniola, freeing all the slaves.
For fighting against the vicious evil that is colonialism, Haiti has been forced to pay reparations and suffer under various dictatorial neocolonial regimes. Whenever there is a Haitian leader widely supported by the Haitian people, such as Jean-Bertrand Aristide, they are quickly overthrown by Western imperialists.
Solidarity with the Haitian people and the history of anticolonial and antiimperialist struggle that inspires us to this day!
