In a significant boost to healthcare services in the Oti Region, the Member of Parliament for Biakoye, Hon. Jean-Marie Formadi, has donated critical medical equipment to the Worawora Government Hospital. The gesture has been widely praised as a major contribution to improving medical care in the Biakoye District and beyond.
The donation includes seven hospital beds, two delivery beds, one hydraulic theatre bed, seven bedside cabinets, and four printers. This intervention, Hon. Formadi explained, stems from a formal request by hospital administration and her firsthand observations during visits to health facilities across the constituency.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony, the MP expressed concern over the state of healthcare infrastructure in the district, noting that it has seen little improvement since 2016. She voiced disappointment over the lack of support from the current administration but reassured constituents of her commitment to reversing the trend. She pledged to ensure the completion of abandoned CHPS compounds in the district to expand access to primary healthcare.
Hon. Formadi also made a passionate appeal to philanthropists at home and abroad to lend their support to the district and the wider Oti Region, emphasizing the need for collaborative efforts to build a healthier society.
Receiving the items, the District Health Director, Rita Ama Narlyn Wurapa, commended the MP for her generosity. She stressed the profound impact the equipment would have on service delivery, noting that the Worawora hospital serves not only residents of the Oti Region but also patients from neighbouring countries. She further highlighted ongoing challenges at the facility that still require urgent attention.
The Medical Director of the Worawora Government Hospital, Dr. Adukpo Godwin, described the donation as timely and necessary. He noted that the items would significantly enhance the quality of care in the district and underscored the MP’s deep concern for the welfare of her constituents.
Dr. Adukpo lauded Hon. Formadi’s call for broader philanthropic engagement, describing it as a commendable step toward fostering collective responsibility in addressing healthcare gaps in underserved areas. He expressed hope that the gesture would inspire similar acts of generosity.
“We, the health workers of Biakoye District, applaud Hon. Jean-Marie Formadi for her remarkable contribution to healthcare in our district,” Dr. Adukpo said. “It is our hope that this inspires others to support efforts to meet the health needs of the district and the entire Oti Region.
