The Pan Africanism Today Secretariat (PAT) joins progressive forces around the world in condemning, in the strongest terms the abduction, torture, and politically motivated prosecution of Comrade Booker Ngesa Omole, General Secretary of the Communist Party Marxist-Kenya.
The charges levelled against Comrade Booker — including the absurd fabrication of connections to President Nicolás Maduro and so-called drug cartels — expose the desperation of a comprador state acting as an enforcer for US imperialism on African soil. That a Kenyan citizen can be persecuted for exercising the sovereign right to protest at a foreign embassy, demanding the release of a democratically elected head of state kidnapped by the United States, tells us everything about who truly governs in Nairobi and in whose interest.
We have seen this script before. Wherever the organised people dare to challenge imperialism and its local agents, the response is the same: criminalisation, fabrication, and brute force. The persecution of Comrade Booker is not an isolated incident — it is part of a continental and global pattern of repression against those who refuse to kneel.
PAT stands with the Communist Party Marxist-Kenya not out of courtesy, but out of conviction. The struggle of the Kenyan working class and peasantry is our struggle. The defence of Comrade Booker is a defence of the right of all African peoples to organise, to resist, and to build an alternative to the neo-colonial order that continues to bleed our continent dry.
We further note that the targeting of Comrade Booker for his solidarity with President Maduro mirrors the broader imperialist offensive against Venezuela — a country whose Bolivarian process has stood as a beacon of anti-imperialist defiance. An attack on those who defend Venezuela is an attack on the principle of international solidarity itself.
We therefore demand:
- The immediate and unconditional release of Comrade Booker Ngesa Omole.
- An end to the political persecution of progressive and revolutionary forces in Kenya.
- Full accountability for the torture and illegal detention he has suffered.
To the comrades of the Communist Party Marxist-Kenya and all democratic forces gathered at Mavoko Law Courts: you do not stand alone. The peoples’ movements of this continent stand with you. From Johannesburg to Ouagadougou, from Niamey to Dar es Salaam, your fight is our fight.
As Kwame Nkrumah reminded us, the forces that unite us are intrinsic and greater than the superimposed influences that keep us apart. Let the Kenyan state and its imperial masters take note.
Free Booker Omole! Defend the right to organise! Forward to a sovereign and united Africa!
In solidarity,
The Pan Africanism Today Secretariat
