The Chief of Staff at the Office of the Vice President, Mr. Alex Segbefia, has been enstooled as the Nene Dufozi I (Development Chief) of the Agotime Traditional Area in the Volta Region.

The colourful ceremony took place at the grand durbar of the 2025 Agotime Kente Festival, celebrated at Agotime-Kpetoe under the theme “Woven Together: Kente, Agotime’s Creative Gift to the World.”

His enstoolment, performed by the Konor of Agotime, Nene Nuer Keteku IV, was in recognition of his longstanding contributions to national development and his particular efforts in advancing healthcare and social infrastructure during his tenure as Minister of Health.

The new title, Nene Dufozi I, literally meaning “Development Chief,” places upon Mr. Segbefia the responsibility of championing sustainable growth, modern infrastructure, and improved living conditions for the people of Agotime and the wider Volta Region.

In his acceptance remarks, Mr. Segbefia expressed deep gratitude to the traditional council and people of Agotime for the honour. He pledged to work closely with chiefs, opinion leaders, and government to accelerate development in the area.

The Agotime Kente Festival, which has become a national cultural landmark, drew thousands of citizens, dignitaries, and visitors from the diaspora. The festival once again highlighted the area’s unmatched heritage as the home of authentic Kente weaving, while also serving as a platform to address pressing developmental needs.
