The Standing Committee of the Socialist Movement of Ghana (#SMG) has approved the convocation of the Second National Delegates #Congress of the Movement from Friday, September 19 to Monday, September 22, 2025, in the Eastern Region of Ghana. Each collective of the Movement will be represented by five delegates and it is expected that representatives of organized labour, youth, and student groups, women’s organizations, and political parties in Ghana will be invited as observers.
Socialist and communist parties, national liberation movements, Pan African, and anti-imperialist organizations from across the world will also be invited as observers. The Standing Committee also approved the holding of the Congress of its youth and women’s wings and a central committee meeting as precursors to the main congress.

Amongst issues to be discussed at the Congress will be how to deepen anti-imperialist solidarity across the globe, a review of the Pan-African agenda, the impact of the pursuit of the neo-liberal agenda in Ghana and Africa, and current developments in the Sahel States.

A Congress Planning Committee has already been set up to deal with all the processes important for the successful holding of the Congress, which will elect the Movement’s leadership for the next four years.
