Gyaasehemaa of Gomoa Idankrom-Jukwa, Nana Esi Ansaba, has cautioned the youth against accusing their mothers as witches when they are aging.
The queen mother, having expressed the pain in bringing up a child, has expressed how disheartening it is to be tagged a witch after going through the mill to raise a child.
“It is really painful to bring up a child for him/her to accuse you of being a witch when things aren’t going well for them in life,” she stated.
Speaking with Onua News’ Joseph Cobbina Saturday, May 11, 2024, at a pre-Mother’s Day party for mothers and market women at Gomoa Afransi in the Gomoa Central district of the Central region, the queen mother used the occasion to advise pastors to desist from breaking people’s homes by accusing their mothers as witches when they grow old.
She explains it is the words of some of these pastors to the youth when things appear not to be going well for them that make them accuse their mothers as witches.
“But I blame most of the pastors because they put this in the minds of the children,” she said.
“I’m advising every child to respect their mother and not to heed to any advice from pastors or wherever they make their consultation to accuse their mothers of witchcraft, else, whatever ailment you’re going through will be with you forever. A mother’s blessing is sweet and unique,” the queen mother added.
Nana Ansaba further held that most of the women accused of witchcraft are those in the villages who suffer from dementia at their old age but because they do not have the means to seek treatment, they go through such ordeal.
“Also, many women undergo dementia after their menopause and usually in the villages, because they don’t have money to attend hospital, people accuse them of insanity due to the symptoms they exhibit,” Nana Ansaba stated.
