THE ENIGMA CALLED DUKADAYA GHANA

Read Time: 2 minutes
Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah

With the establishment of the GHANA BROADCASTING CORPORATION (GBC) in 1953, the Ghana News Agency on the eve of Independence on 5th March 1957 and the External Service in 1961 Nkrumah rivaled the BBC and VOA in scope and depth as the broadcast service, apart from English, was also in Swahili, Hausa, French, Spanish and Portuguese (plus a bevy of local languages). From the Broadcasting House, next to the seat of government, the Flagstaff House, Radio Ghana beamed information, propaganda, and messages of support to peoples struggling for freedom and self-determination in all parts of Africa. Nkrumah was always one step ahead of the colonialists and imperialists.
But then with the help of quislings the American CIA and its NATO allies overthrew Nkrumah in February 1966 and dismantled the External Service of Radio Ghana. Ever since no succeeding regimes have seen it in the Pan-African interest to revive the External Service. Why? For the fear of offending the “neocolonial” masters. Not even the Tsikatas/Rawlings (P)NDC regimes would dare contemplate reviving a Pan-African propaganda flagship. Why? Because they owed their existence and state capture to the axis of neocolonialism. They dare not bite the hands that feed them. Both the ruling NPP and the opposition NDC ( Dukadaya, i. e. two sides of the same counterfeit coin ) are of the same anti-Nkrumaism roots and ethno-hegemony parentage. The state of benign neglect of most of the institutions Nkrumah created is a hearbreaking sight to behold. Go and see how the GBC and the Ghana News Agency have been left to decay basking in mediocrity. What Radio Ghana meant to our kith and kin in East, Southern and Central Africa during the Nkrumah era has been lost on successive regimes who only pay lip service to the ideals and praxis of Nkrumah and the CPP. It is this propagated lie that the NDC is associated with Nkrumaism that has become a setback to the Pan-African struggle. It is the greatest deception confronting Pan-Africa.

And to think that the KWAME NKRUMAH IDEOLOGICAL INSTITUTE has become a propaganda platform for the defenders of the Dukadaya cannot be mind-boggling because President Nana Akufo-Addo, Speaker Michael Ocquaye, Afari-Gyan, Ato Ahwoi, Elisabeth Ohene, Kwabena Duffuor, Kwesi Botchway and Kojo Boakye-Djan ( the only odd one who, with conviction and at great risk, formed and organised the Free Africa Movement in the Armed Forces of Ghana ) who have constituted the bridgehead against Nkrumaism were all educated at the Kwame Nkrumah Ideological Institute between 1963 and 1964. At that period, to secure a university degree, it was mandatory to undergo a year of instruction at the Ideological Institute in Winneba. That, these graduates of the Kwame Nkrumah Ideological Institute would rather, by conviction, place themselves under the armpit of the Washington Consensus and to be so teleguided is a telling lesson. Such is the enigma of Ghana. Ghana is under neocolonial grip. And it is this fact that must be exposed from the camouflage and concealment fronted by the Dukadaya ruling elites and their Washington Consensus minders. As Nkrumah would say, they have, by their own deeds, entrapped Ghana “in the gamble house of colonialism”.
This is the enigma called the Dukadaya Ghana
