As Ghana prepares to mark its 68th Independence Day, 52 exceptional students, including those with special needs, have been recognized for their outstanding performance in the 2024 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

The prestigious 2025 President’s Independence Day Awards celebrated the young achievers for their academic excellence and dedication to learning. The awards ceremony, held at the Accra International Conference Centre, was led by Vice President Her Excellency Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang.

In her address, the Vice President commended the students for their hard work, perseverance, and commitment to excellence. She emphasized that their achievements reflect the promise of a brighter future for Ghana, urging them to continue striving for success.

The awardees, drawn from both public and private schools across the country, expressed their gratitude for the recognition and shared their aspirations for the future.

As part of the awards package, each recipient received a brand-new laptop, a plaque, and products from sponsors, reinforcing the government’s commitment to supporting education and innovation.

Established in 1993, the President’s Independence Day Awards recognizes students between the ages of 14 and 19 from all 16 regions of Ghana. It aims to reward academic excellence and encourage students, including those with additional educational needs to reach greater heights.

The annual awards continue to serve as a source of inspiration for young learners across Ghana, highlighting the nation’s investment in education as a key driver of progress.
