Why and How Does the United States Seek to Intervene in Venezuela?

Read Time: < 1 minute

Today, August 28, marks one month since the elections, and we reinforce our call to defend Venezuela’s democracy and sovereignty. We must stay vigilant against any attacks from the far right and US imperialism on President Maduro’s election.

Venezuela’s vast oil reserves and its commitment to a socialist, anti-imperialist project have put it at odds with US imperialism interests. From the nationalization of oil under Hugo Chávez to the ongoing struggle for sovereignty, Venezuela has faced relentless attempts at destabilization. The US has imposed sanctions, supported coup attempts, and even tried to invade the country.

Join us in defending Venezuela’s right to self-determination and say NO to US imperialism!
