VIVA SOCIALISM! BY ABENA OSEGU BOATENG

Read Time: 2 minutes

There can be no doubt that socialism is fast approaching like an electric train and that if its detractors do not jump of the rail lines, they would soon be buried in the filthiest of the dustbins of history.

The truth is that our current existence validates what Marx and Engels taught us and what Nkrumah, Fidel, Angela Davies, Mao and many others embraced.

Even in the citadels of capitalism, many people are rallying to the call to smash capitalism and to build socialism in its place.

Fact is that more and more people are searching for explanations for the homelessness, the illiteracy, the unemployment and the glaring inequality which has become the hallmark of western civilization. The more they search, the more they come to the realization that the alternative can be found through the application of science and that Marx and Engels have already led the way.

They thought us that a study of the combination of history in its fullness and the material basis of society prescribes the way out of poverty and inequality which are products of capitalism. It inevitably points to the binding connection between slavery, colonialism and neo-colonialism to the capitalist path of development.

The results of a study carried out by the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) in the United Kingdom, concluded that 67 percent of young people want to live under a socialist government.

The research confirmed that younger people are hostile to capitalism and hold positive views of socialist alternatives.

A forefront Market Research Poll commissioned by the IEA of just under 2000 people aged between 16 and 34 in the UK and carried out between February and March 2021 established that 67 per cent of those polled would like to live in a socialist economic system.

What is even more interesting is that “75 per cent agree with the assertion that climate change is a specifically capitalist problem” and “78 per cent blame capitalism for Britain’s housing crisis”.

That is not all. “72 per cent support (re-) nationalization of various industries such as energy, water and the railways” and another 72 per cent believe that the private sector involvement would put NHS at risk.”

The most exciting news is that other research carried out in the United States of America have almost the same results.

The masses want change and they prefer socialism to capitalism. This is where the world is going and it is definitely for the better.

Viva Socialism. The people will win!
