The foundation of global capitalism.

This Black History Month we remember, Samora Machel, revolutionary socialist independence leader against Portuguese colonialism and first President of Mozambique, who was killed in a suspicious plane crash in South Africa, which many accuse the racist Apartheid South African apartheid government of having orchestrated.Machel was a Marxist-Leninist and helped lead the Mozambique Liberation Front (FRELIMO) in the fight against colonialism and for the country’s independence from Portugal. On June 25, 1975 he proclaimed the “total and complete independence of Mozambique and its constitution into the People’s Republic of Mozambique.” The government quickly nationalized land, healthcare and education and other essential sectors to redistribute and provide for the people. Earlier in 1981, the CIA plotted to assassinate Machel and other politicians and was accused by the Mozambican government of preparing to back a coup against the Marxist government with the help of the South African apartheid government. The racist South African government reportedly supported right-wing Mozambican rebels to carry out atrocities and to cripple the economy to undermine the country’s independence and the government, which they saw as a threat. A minority report requested by the Soviet Union suggested that Machel’s aircraft was intentionally lured off course by a decoy radio navigation beacon set up by the South Africans, leading the plane to crash on South African soil. “Your life continues in those who continue the revolution.”
