The Socialist Forum of Ghana (SFG) condemns the attack on the office of Newsclick and the arrest of its editors by the Indian authorities in the strongest possible terms.
The SFG sees this as yet another manifestation of the reckless attacks on the basic freedoms of the Indian people in the face of mounting social and economic problems which the Narendra Modi government has failed to deal with.
The raid of the so-called Enforcement Directorate on the offices of Newsclick, (a digital news portal) and the homes of its Editors, cannot provide any comfort to the forces of reaction in India.
We believe that this blatant harassment of journalists of Newsclick is in response to its credible coverage of the protests of Indian farmers.
The SFG calls for an immediate end to the repression of journalists in Indian and the release of the staff of Newsclick without any preconditions.
