Luanda (Angola), April 14, 2025 (SPS) – The Sahrawi Ambassador to Angola, Mr. Hamdi Khalil Meyara, led a visit on Monday to the headquarters of the Angolan News Agency (ANGOP), where he met with the agency’s Director-General and its board of directors.

The visit allowed the Sahrawi ambassador to observe the operational mechanisms of the Angolan News Agency and tour its departments. During the meeting, he briefed officials on the latest developments in the Sahrawi issue amid the ongoing escalation of the conflict with the Moroccan occupation on all fronts since the resumption of armed struggle on November 13, 2020.

The Sahrawi diplomat also held a press interview with ANGOP, discussing the recent developments in the Sahrawi cause ahead of its upcoming review at the United Nations Security Council. He highlighted the difficult conditions faced by Sahrawi journalists, particularly in the occupied territories, due to the occupation’s continuous violations.

Ambassador Hamdi Meyara discussed with ANGOP officials the importance of enhancing cooperation between Sahrawi media and the Angolan News Agency, particularly with the Sahrawi Press Agency (SPS). This collaboration aims to strengthen professional support and development across all media fields, facilitate access to information and updates on events in both brotherly nations, and promote the exchange of expertise and experiences amid the rapid evolution and diversification of media tools and technologies.
