REJOINDER TO PUBLICATION BY THE FOURTH ESTATE ON ASSET DECLARATION
My attention has been drawn to a publication by The Fourth Estate titled “ASSET “DECLARATION: 55 Appointees & Staffers Defy Mahama’s Order… Will the President go by his words, or was just an empty threat?” in which my name was listed among appointees alleged to have failed to comply with the President’s directive on the declaration of assets.
I wish to state, in no uncertain terms, that this claim is false, misleading, and does not reflect the facts. I duly completed and submitted my asset declaration forms to the Ghana Audit Service in full compliance with the constitutional and statutory requirements. After submission, the forms alongside a few others from the Office of the Vice President were returned by officials of the Audit Service for minor corrections.
At the time the corrected forms were due for re-submission, I was out of the jurisdiction for medical reasons. Upon my return, I promptly effected the necessary corrections and resubmitted the forms, which were duly received by the Ghana Audit Service.
This clarification was provided to The Fourth Estate when they reached out to the Office of the Vice President for verification. It is, therefore, most unfortunate that despite having the accurate information, they went ahead to publish a report that included my name among alleged defaulters.
I remain fully committed to transparency, accountability, and the rule of law, and I wholeheartedly support the President’s directive on asset declaration.
I respectfully urge The Fourth Estate and all media outlets to uphold the principles of accuracy and fairness in their reporting, particularly on matters that affect reputations and public trust.
