PROTEST AGAINST THE ARREST OF KHATAR SA’AFAN, PRESIDENT OF THE PALESTINIAN WOMEN’S’ COMMITTEE

Socialist Forum Of Ghana

The Socialist Forum of Ghana (SFG) strongly condemns the arrest and brutalization of Khatar Sa’ afan, President of the Palestinian Women’s Committee, by the State of Israel.

Khatar Sa’afan’s, arrest is another in a long line of Israeli terrorist responses to Palestinian democratic activism against the illegal occupation of their homeland by the State of Israel.

For over 50 years, Israel has subjected the people of Palestine to fascism, equivalent to that of Nazi Germany and the institutional racism equivalent of apartheid South Africa. Israel has seized Palestinians’ ancestral lands and confiscated their private homes.  Israel has forced hundreds of thousands of Palestinians into exile. Israel has subjected those that have been allowed to remain to daily humiliation and insecurity forcing them into concentration camp type “Bantustans” where they are subject to attack and abuse at the whim of insecure Israeli politicians and security forces.  Many innocent Palestinians including women and children have been illegally thrown into detention centres, brutalized, and even murdered in cold blood for asserting their basic human rights.

Israeli apartheid and genocide against Palestinians have endured because a handful of Western Imperialist Powers, especially the United States, have used Israeli fascists as enforcers to keep Arab oil resources under Western control and to harass and intimidate rival regional powers like Iran who seek only to use their resources to develop their countries rather than create indecent profits for transnational corporations.  Israel remains a pariah state to most of the international community – despite reckless recent moves by the US to bribe and bully the bankrupt elites that dominate Israel’s Arab neighbours into the semblance of rapprochement with it.

The Palestinian road to freedom has been long but it will end.  No matter how many individual Palestinian freedom fighters Israel arrests, detains, tortures, and murders the struggle for an independent state of Palestine will continue until final victory.  Dissent against racism is building amongst Israeli and western citizens.  Every atrocity Israel commits, (such as the arrest and torture of mother and writer Khatar Sa’afan) strengthens the international

coalition against Israel to the point where even the Trumps and Pompeo’s continue to heap outrage upon outrage upon Palestine.

The SFG demands an immediate end to the Zionist occupation of Palestine and all Arab lands including the Golan Heights and Israeli commitment to international law.

We also demand the unconditional release of all Palestinian political prisoners from Israeli jails and restoration of the right of Palestinian refugees to return to their homeland.

We extend our full solidarity to the people of Palestine in their just struggle and invite progressive forces in the world to denounce Israeli monstrosity.
