Press Statement by the Convener of the Socialist Movement of Ghana- Ho Collective
Revolutionary greetings to you all, it saddens our hearts to say the Electoral Commissioner of Ghana is pushing the youth of Ghana into doing something unthinkable but we shall resist her deadly plans. We are not going to be moved at all in doing anything silly.
We cannot believe the EC is telling us to go to only the 268 District EC offices to register when most of the youth who turned 18 years since 2019 have no means of traveling to such offices. How can those leaving on islands, water back’s and isolated places get to those offices?
The EC is only looking for ways to disenfranchise eligible voters.
We members of the socialist movements of Ghana Ho collective wants to sound this warning to the EC as early as possible to review her note for peace to prevail by conducting the 2023 limited voter registration exercise at the 1500 electoral areas which were gazetted and used for the 2019 limited registration exercise.
We believe this will afford all those who cannot travel the opportunity to register without any challenge.
