NUTOG WANTS GOVERNMENT TO SCRAP OFF BOUYANT TAXES ON THEIR OPERATION – HAMZA HAFIZ

General Secretary of the National Union of Tricycle Operators Ghana, Hamza Hafiz, has outlined his expectations ahead of the 2025 Mid-year budget review.

According to him, his association is expecting government to scrap off some nuisance taxes been imposed on tricycles which have trickle down to derail their operations

With just days to go, all eyes will be on Parliament on March 11, where the Finance Minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson will unveil the government’s financial roadmap for the year ahead.

The business community, in particular, is hopeful that the 2025 budget will bring meaningful reforms to drive growth, innovation, and resilience in Ghana’s economy. With expectations High, the Ghanaian public and business community are looking forward to budget that addresses high tax burdens, poor infrastructure development amongst other key factors.

Speaking on the aforesaid issue, the General Secretary of NUTOG, Hamza Hafiz, touched on some few things they are expecting to hear from the government during the budget reading, include taking off some nuisance taxes derailing their businesses

“NUTOG is expecting some of the taxes to be removed on the tricycle because the cost price of one tricycle is about forty-six thousand Ghana cedis, looking at the tax component, duty and other stuffs it is close to thirteen thousand on one tricycle so we are urging government to look into that so that it becomes more affordable. Says Hamza Hafiz
