New Year Message to WAPO Members and the Valiant Peoples of West Africa

Read Time: 2 minutes

In a few hours, the new year 2025 begins.

I would like to take this opportunity to present you with New Year’s greetings.

Brave Peoples of West Africa.

WAPO, your sub-regional organization has just celebrated its 2nd anniversary.

During the past year, what have we been able to achieve?

A lot has been accomplished during this year. WAPO, as a patriotic, revolutionary and pan-Africanist organization, has always stood alongside the workers and peoples of West Africa and has always supported all their struggles.

During the past year 2024, many happy and less happy events have taken place. Among the happy events, we can mention: in Senegal, the valiant Senegalese people twice (presidential election – March – and legislative elections, November 2024) firmly rejected the Françafrique and neo-colonial policy and opted for a sovereigntist policy. It entrusted the new rulers with the means of this policy.

In Ghana, the government of Nana Akufo Addo, which served as a puppet of NATO and French interests in Africa, was outvoted and replaced by John Dramani Mahama, signaling the Ghanaian people’s choice for a sovereigntist path.

But the most important event that this ending year accomplished was the triumphant holding of the first international anti-imperialist Conference in support of the peoples of the Sahel held in Niamey on November 19-20 and 21, 2024.

Such a Conference, the first of its kind in Africa, gave a special seal to our Organization making WAPO an indestructible organization whatever the obstacles. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate you all on the efforts made and thank the High Authorities of Niger. Of course, we know that the patriotic powers of the AES States are still facing crude plans of colonial aggression. Let them know that they have at their side all the peoples of West Africa and the whole of Africa.

Comrades on the threshold of the New Year, I commit myself on behalf of the WAPO Coordination Council and counting on the support of all, to continue on the path of the mission that our Organization has given itself. It is with this commitment that I present to you on behalf of the WAPO Coordination Council, the best wishes for the New Year 2025: Health, determination in the Patriotic Fight and Victory.

Happy New Year 2025.
