This is yet another new beginning for our country. Unbelievably so. My party, the NPP has shamefully exited government and the NDC just took over. I have painfully come to terms with it. I respect the decision of the Ghanaian people and congratulate Ghanaians for a peaceful election and steady democracy.

JM is now the President. NADAA is a former President.

DMB couldn’t make it. He will someday. DMB’s peaceful and patriotic nature give us hope for the future. His vision remains instructively engrossing and persuasive.

Some few suggestions for the President and ex President.

Mr President, please do not carry a special chair around. Do not order chiefs to stand up and greet you. This doesn’t not show respect to the people.

Mr President, we will hold your feet to the fire to fulfil all the OUTRAGEOUS promises you made during the campaign. You will be held to every statement you made.

Within the first hundred days of your government, you MUST scrap E-levy, COVID levy, 10% levy on betting, emissions levy, and import duty on vehicles and equipment imported into the country for industrial and agricultural purposes. We expect you to appoint only 60 ministers to run your government. You will be constantly reminded to implement the ‘No-Academic-Fee’ policy for all first-year students in public tertiary institutions: universities, colleges of education, nursing training institutions and constitute the leanest government under the fourth republic in the first 90 days in office.

These were your key campaign promises. We will not accept excuses for non fulfilment of these promises. And don’t be rude to us when we come making demands for excellence.

Mr President, let First Lady, Lordina Mahama understand that we voted for you and have the right to say it to your face when you fail us. It is our constitutional right to criticise your government, your actions and inactions and we will do so fiercely. We will condemn and describe your leadership and government in adjectives that may hurt her if you become the opposite of what you campaigned for or against. Former 1st lady, Rebecca Akufo-Addo got it all wrong with her outburst when her husband’s government was described as the worst government in Ghana’s history. I disagree though.

We said Mahama was incompent. Didn’t we? Highly critical language is allowed in a vibrant democracy. What should not be tolerated are insulting and abusive comments.

Mr former President, retire peacefully, be a stateman, be like JAK, do not seek to control our party because we will not allow you to do so. Mr former President, the rumour in town is that you said you have your guys for President and Veep for 2028. I pray it is untrue because we will not allow any imposition from you. You will not have your way. It has to be the party’s way. Infact, it will be an extremely poor way to handle your retirement. Please, avoid controversies and enjoy the rest of your life in tranquility.

God bless our country.
