DR. LI BO IS COMING TO GHANA

Dr. Li Bo

Dr. Li Bo, a respected Chinese intellectual and an expert on China-Africa relations is expected in
Accra, Ghana in February 2025 at the invitation of the Socialist Movement of Ghana (SMG).
While in Accra, Dr. Bo will be the keynote speaker at a public lecture organised by the SMG to mark
the 58th anniversary of the overthrow of Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah by the Central Intelligence
Agency (CIA) of the United States of America and its local collaborators.

He is expected to speak on China-Africa Relations with particular reference to the impact of the
overthrow of the Nkrumah government.

Dr. Bo is currently the Executive Director of the Shanghai Chungin Institute for Development and
Strategic Studies, and a senior fellow of both Tricontinental Institute for Social Research and the
China Institute of Fudan University, one of China’s leading Think-tanks.

He is also the General Manager of Guancha Media and serves as the Chief Executive of Guancha
Syndicate, a news and commentary platform dedicated to providing global Chinese readers with
in-depth reporting on political aXairs and comprehensive analysis through timely and original
content.
His research interests encompass the history of socialism, socialism in China, the digital economy,
as well as development economics and geopolitics related to China and the Global South.
Dr. Li Bo studied at the Tongji University and continued his education in Germany in the 1980’s
where he received a Diploma in Economics and a PHD in Economics at the Kiel University.
He worked in Germany up until 1994.

He has held various senior executive positions at renowned Chinese and international strategy
consulting firms and publicly listed companies.

While in Accra, Dr. Bo is expected to have conversations with a number of Ghanaian academics
and research institutions.
