The people of Tatale have officially welcomed Mary Tagba as their new District Chief Executive (DCE), a move widely seen as a turning point for the district’s development and governance.

Her endorsement has sparked a sense of unity and renewed optimism among residents as they look forward to an improved economy and livelihood.

In her acceptance speech, Hon. Mary Tagba expressed her profound gratitude to the community for the trust imposed in her and pledged full dedication to inclusive development. She emphasized her passion for education, referencing her background as a professional teacher, and assured residents that she would work tirelessly to uplift the youth.

She also committed to addressing the growing menace of drug abuse and working to resolve chieftaincy-related disputes that have hindered unity and development in the district.

“To the chieftaincy dispute … I will visit every palace, I am for them, they are for me … and whatever I’ll do as a true daughter of the land to ensure that we are one to work as a team to develop the place, I will do it in my capacity as the District Chief Executive,” Hon. Mary Tagba pledges.

In an engagement with the media, the residents expressed satisfaction with the appointment, noting that the district had suffered stagnation during the long absence of a DCE.

They further lamented the growing insecurity faced by women in the market, particularly due to the abuse of drugs by the youth. They, however, expressed hope that the new DCE would prioritise security and tackle these challenges head-on.

“We are hopeful that with the calibre of the person that has been confirmed, she can help in resetting the district in collaboration with the President. I’ve worked with her at the constituency level as an executive – she’s very competent. She’s a teacher and very vocal, very influential and very supportive. So, I’m confident that at least with her as our DCE, we’ll be able to push the district forward,” Bintim Ahmed Zuberu, a resident of Tatale expressed optimism about the new DCE.

The confirmation of Mary Tagba as the DCE has rekindled hopes across the district, with many seeing her as a transformative figure poised to drive a new era of empowerment, especially for the youth, women, and the marginalized.
