Komenda Revival Tied to Jobs, Roads, and Education — Veep Tells Chiefs

Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has renewed government’s commitment to restoring full operations at the Komenda Sugar Development Company Limited.

During a courtesy call on the Paramount Chief of the Komenda Traditional Area, Okatakyie Komeh VIII, the Vice President acknowledged the persistent setbacks faced by the factory over the years. She noted that despite a $35 million investment and recommissioning in 2016, the plant has struggled to operate consistently due to technical and operational issues.

Professor Opoku-Agyemang assured the Chief and the people of Komenda that efforts are underway to bring the factory back to life. She said government remains focused on ensuring the facility plays its intended role in creating jobs and boosting the local economy.

The Paramount Chief, in his remarks, called for urgent steps to get the factory running again. He also appealed for improved road infrastructure and greater attention to the educational needs of the township.

In response, the Vice President pledged to push for progress on all fronts, emphasizing that the concerns raised by the community would not go unaddressed.

She also used the occasion to thank the people of Komenda for their strong show of support during the 2024 General Elections, which contributed significantly to the party’s victory. She urged continued unity and support as the government works to deliver on its mandate.
