KOFI AKPALOO Accused Of Defrauding LPG Parliamentary Candidates

Some parliamentary candidates of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG) have accused their presidential candidate for the 2020 election, Kofi Percival Akpaloo of defrauding them in the recently held election.

According to the candidates who contested for various parliamentary seats in the country but were unsuccessful, Mr. Akpaloo deceived them into taking loans and using their personal monies to campaign with and also file for their candidacy on the ticket of the LPG with the promise to pay them when the party’s main campaign cash from the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) is ready but that did not happen.

Addressing a news conference in Accra yesterday, Mr. Kwabena Agyeman, who contested on the LPG’s ticket for Kwabre East in the Ashanti Region accused Mr. Akpaloo of enriching himself by fleecing on the sweat and toil of the LPG candidates across the country.

Mr. Agyenman claimed that even though the NPP funded all of Mr. Kofi Akpaloo’s campaign activities including paying GHc10,000 each for all of the supposed LPG’s 270 parliamentary candidates, not a pittance was received by any of the over 150 candidates from the presidential candidate.

Flanked by Madam Gifty Hammond who contested Ayawaso Central, Isaac Amaning, Atiwa East Constituency, Richard Nana Kwabena Nyamekye, Western North Regional Chairman, Esi Crentsil, Central Region among other candidates and party executives, they accused Mr. Akpaloo of being a fraudster.

They claimed that despite assurances by Mr. Apkaloo to provide them with pick-up vehicles, motorbikes, T-shirts and funding for campaigning among others, none was fulfilled by the loudmouthed presidential candidate.

They warned that if Mr. Akpaloo fails to pay them back their filing fees including personal and borrowed monies used for campaigning, they will take all steps available to them to get their monies back.

All attempts through phone calls to get Mr. Kofi Akpaloo to respond to the allegations proved futile as he did to pick up the numerous calls.

CONCERNED LIBERAL PARTY OF GHANA (LPG) PARLIAMENTARY CANDIDATES; REPORT ON KOFI AKPALOO

Severe damage has been inflicted on the parliamentary candidates of the LPG by Kofi Akpaloo.

This includes: Financial damage, failed political aspirations, broken promises and outright fraud.

Kofi Akpaloo gave several promises to the various parliamentary candidates of the Liberal Party of Ghana who were attempting to enter parliament. Aspirants were told to use their own resources to campaign and file and even go for loans on the basis that these would be paid back as soon as funds were ready. These funds were supposedly to be provided by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) but to date not even a pesewa has been paid to any of the Parliamentary candidates.

To sum up, the promises were:

  • To provide pick up vehicles
  • To provide motorbikes
  • To provide parliamentary filing fees
  • To provide campaign funds
  • To provide T-Shirts
  • To provide political organization and support from the LPG.

These promises never materialized and have caused very severe and harmful effects. Several LPG parliamentary candidates now find themselves facing bankruptcy, owing loans which they cannot repay and are worse off for having joined the LPG.          Several aspirants now also find their political careers and credibility totally destroyed as a result of Kofi Akpaloo and the LPG.

In fact, we will go so far as to state categorically that the LPG seems to be a party of fraudsters.

Even the vice Presidential candidate of the LPG was replaced mid-stream by a non-literate candidate who supposedly had paid a bribe to Mr. Kofi Akpaloo.

Throughout the period of the election, Kofi Akpaloo kept switching his support between the NPP and NDC which led many candidates to actually campaign against him and Nana Akufo- Addo, which is the reason for Kofi Akpaloo’s abysmal election result.

Examples of those affected includes; Agona West, Atiwa East, Atiwa West, Asutifi North, Kwadaso, Kwabre East, New Juaben North, Nkawkaw, Subin, Yilo Krobo, and others up and down this country of Ghana.
