Judicial advisor of the Israeli government, Avichai Mandelblit, informed the Supreme Court that the Israeli government will not intervene in the Sheikh Jarrah case.
Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper quoted what Mandelblit said as the Israeli government will not intervene and participate in the court sessions of the Sheikh Jarrah case, leaving the court free to decide without any political interventions.
It noted that another session will be held soon to look into the appeal submitted by the Palestinian families to the Supreme Court following the Central Court decision to displace them from their homes in Sheikh Jarrah.
In his letter sent to the court, Mendelblit wrote that in light of the numerous legal procedures that had been conducted regarding the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood over the years, he concluded that there was no need for him to appear in court.
The Supreme Court approved Mandleblit’s demand last month and delayed the court’s session organized to look into the suspended appeal related to the forced expulsion of dozens of Palestinian families from their homes in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in eastern Jerusalem.
His demand was based on recommendations relating to policies.
Mandelblit had previously informed the court that he will look into joining the court’s session as a part representing the government, but, yesterday night, he declared his unwillingness to.
