Human rights organizations urges US company to stop its discriminatory policy against Palestinians

Human rights organizations have called on US e-payment service company ‘PayPal’ to end its discriminatory policy of preventing Palestinians from using its platform in the occupied territories.

In a letter to the director of the company, a coalition of human rights groups, including the Palestine Solidarity Campaign and the Jewish Voice for Peace, called on the company not to contribute to human rights violations and discriminatory practices against Palestinians in the occupied territories.

The letter highlighted the fact that “while the company has denied Palestinians in the occupied West Bank and the besieged Gaza Strip from the platform for years, it has allowed illegal settlers to use it.”

In return, the director of the Arab Centre for the Advancement of Social Media, Nadeem Naseeb, said: “The company is directly promoting the Israeli occupation and consolidating its devastating effects on the Palestinians and their economy.”

Human rights organizations also deplored the PayPal resolution in partnership with the Anti-Defamation Committee (the Jewish lobby in the United States), which, under the guise of “combating hate speech,” perpetuated Islamophobia and racism against Palestinians.
