The recent display of bodies in open places during state funerals, handled by individuals in inappropriate attire, including a chop bar operator in work clothes and a driver still behind the wheel, has raised serious health concerns. This unacceptable situation poses significant health hazards to mourners and the general public.
I call upon the Ghana Health Service and other relevant authorities to take immediate action to address this issue. The health and dignity of the deceased, as well as the safety of the public, must be prioritized.
Key demands include:
– Immediate cessation of the practice of displaying bodies in open places
– Enforcement of proper health protocols for handling and displaying deceased individuals
– Provision of appropriate attire and equipment for personnel handling the deceased
– Public education on the health risks associated with current practices
I urge the health authority to treat this matter with the urgency it deserves and take necessary steps to prevent future occurrences.
