  • Hi Tess! We didn’t glue or screw the boards together The boards are bumped up tight together and each individual board is screwed into the ledger boards attached to the wall Two screws per board, one at each end Then the wedge/end piece we added keeps everything snug

  • Ghana's **7-Year Development Plan** was an ambitious strategy introduced during the tenure of President Dr. Kwame Nkrumah in the early 1960s. Officially launched in 1963, the plan was aimed at driving industrialization, achieving economic self-reliance, and improving the standard of living across the country. It focused on several key sectors:

    ### Key Objectives:
    1. **Economic Diversification**: Shift the economy from its heavy reliance on cocoa exports toward industrial production and manufacturing.
    2. **Industrialization**: Establish state-owned enterprises in various industries, including steel, textiles, and energy.
    3. **Education and Human Capital Development**: Increase access to education and technical training to create a skilled workforce.
    4. **Infrastructure Expansion**: Build roads, ports, and energy facilities to support industrial growth.
    5. **Agricultural Modernization**: Promote mechanized farming and agricultural development to ensure food security and supply raw materials for industries.

    ### Achievements and Challenges:
    - **Achievements**:
    - Establishment of major projects like the **Akosombo Dam**, which provided hydroelectric power.
    - The creation of state enterprises in sectors like aluminum, textiles, and food processing.
    - Expansion of educational institutions to train skilled professionals.

    - **Challenges**:
    - The plan required heavy borrowing, which placed significant strain on Ghana’s finances.
    - Opposition from political rivals and external pressures led to interruptions in its execution.
    - Following the 1966 coup that ousted Nkrumah, many of the projects under the plan were abandoned or underfunded.

The 7-Year Development Plan remains a landmark in Ghana's history, symbolizing a vision of economic transformation and self-reliance. It also highlights the complexities of implementing large-scale development agendas in the face of domestic and international challenges.
