European Union supports conduct of elections in Jerusalem

The European Union confirmed on Tuesday its support to conduct the elections in the occupied Palestinian territories, including eastern Jerusalem. 

Sven Burgsdorff, the EU representative in Palestine, said that when he was welcomed by Hanna Naser, head of the Central Election Committee in Al-Beireh.

Burgsdorff greeted the efforts made by the Central Election Committee to prepare for democratic, translucent elections, calling all parties to intensify the efforts for the success of this process. 

Hanna Nasser let Burgsdorff look at the preparations of the commission and its efforts to conduct the elections. 

They also discussed the possible Israeli burdens that might impede the implementation of the elections in Jerusalem.

Hanna called on the European Union to press on Israel to implement the signed agreements that allow Jerusalemites to participate in the elections in Jerusalem.
