Election 2024: NPP becoming a “danger” to our democracy – Franklin Cudjoe

President of IMANI Africa, Franklin Cudjoe, has registered his dissatisfaction with the governing New Patriotic Party’s actions in the upcoming election.

According to him, the NPP is spreading misinformation and using notable personalities to publish lies.

Furthermore, he alleges that the party has deployed individuals to miseducate voters across the country.

A specific example of this misinformation is a video clip circulating on social media, where a man believed to be a journalist falsely claims that voting for the first 7 candidates on the presidential ballot will take place on December 7, while voting for the remaining candidates takes place on December 8.

This video originated from a local language morning show on Wontumi TV, a party-aligned radio station, and has been flagged by Facebook for violating its community standards ¹.

Franklin Cudjoe criticized the Electoral Commission (EC) and the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) for not responding to these incidents.

He also argues that the EC’s voter education adverts are reacting to claims that no one has made, which seems to be manufactured to make one political party look bad.

Executive Director of the Ghana Center for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana), Professor Henry Kwasi Prempeh, has also slammed pro-NPP television station Wontumi TV over the misleading information ahead of the December 7 parliamentary and presidential elections.

“This is a total fabrication. There is only one election day, and that is December 7,” Professor Prempeh stated in a Facebook post.

“It is not true that voting for the first 7 candidates on the presidential ballot will take place on December 7, while voting for the candidates from Number 8 to 13 takes place on December 8. That would not be lawful.”

  • Most of whatever you articulate is astonishingly accurate and that makes me wonder why I hadn't looked at this with this light before. Your article truly did switch the light on for me personally as far as this particular issue goes. However there is actually one factor I am not too comfortable with so while I attempt to reconcile that with the actual central theme of the point, let me observe exactly what the rest of the subscribers have to point out.Well done.
