A producer Pan-African TV released the documentary “Fidel Castro: revolutionary life in Cuba, Africa and Ghana”. The objective is to show the history of the leader of the Cuban Revolution for the rest of the Caribbean and the Castro political influence in African countries in the struggles for independence and national freedom of the continent.

The 30-minute audiovisual production was released on January 15 and shows how Fidel's concern was to ensure that revolutionary ideas were not limited to Cuba and the Caribbean, but that the Cuban government should be supportive of other left-wing fighting fronts around the world.
Victoria Wilson is a journalist for Pan-African TV and member of the Movimento Socialista do Gana (SMG). According to him, the film is important because it shows that, even being widely recognized as a leader of the Cuban Revolution, his ideas are intertwined with the struggles for dignity and self-determination in other countries.

"Making this film allows history to be revisited from a broader and more balanced perspective, which recognizes Castro not only as a figure of the Cold War, but as a human being moved by deep ideological convictions and lacks belief in global solidarity. It preserves a history shared between Cuba and Africa that runs the risk of being cut off, especially by the “Younger generations,” said Brazil de Fato.
The documentary focuses on the life and political life of Fidel Castro in three spaces: Cuba, Africa and Ghana. He began to unravel his revolutionary rise on the island and later traced a relationship with Africa and his active support for the freedom movements. The production ends up focusing on Ghana, where it is the headquarters of Pan-African TV, and the government of Kwame Nkrumah. According to the producers, the film emphasizes the impact and how the ideas are translated into education, health, military support and long-term partnerships for the countries.

The production combines archival images, interviews with Cuban specialists and militants, as well as a narrative.
The narrative traces a relationship between Cuba and African countries built on the basis of solidarity, and not on exploration. Examples include military support, medical assistance, education and political support, whose roots are a shared struggle against colonialism, apartheid and imperialism.

"This relationship influenced the course of freedom in countries like Angola and South Africa and strengthened post-independence development efforts throughout the continent. It represents a rare example of cooperation between nations in the Global South, based on mutual respect and shared ideas," Victoria stated.

The journalist also says that the documentary seeks to educate, humanize and provoke reflection, deepening the understanding of Fidel Castro's legacy. Another provocation for the production refers to a “moral quest” about how Africa can repay this solidarity at a time when Cuba faces economic difficulties and economic and military pressure from the United States.
"For the African audience, particularly in Ghana, the film reconnects viewers with a history of international solidarity that helped shape their present. Ultimately, it aims to inspire dialogue about shared responsibility, lasting alliances and the power to be united across borders in times of mourning," he concluded.
