Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin held consultations with the participation of Russian stakeholder agencies and companies and a UN delegation that included UNCTAD Secretary General Rebeca Grynspan and UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Martin Griffiths in Moscow on October 16-17.
An in-depth exchange of views was held concerning the implementation of the grain deal proposed by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in the interest of overcoming the global food security crisis.
The sides underscored the importance of ensuring full and reciprocal implementation of the Black Sea Initiative on Ukrainian food exports, as well as the Russia-UN Memorandum of Understanding on promoting Russian food products and fertilisers to the world markets.
☝️ The Russian side emphasised the importance of establishing sustainable fertiliser and grain supplies primarily to the African, Asian and Latin American countries.
