Condemnations on Israel’s approval of constructing 800 settlement units in West Bank

Some Arab and Western countries condemned the decision of Israel to approve the construction of 800 settlement units in the West Bank.

For its part, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) expressed its condemnation of the approval, reiterating in a statement its utmost rejection of this decision, slamming it as a new violation of the resolutions of the United Nations that threatens peace and undermines the two-state solution.

For Egypt, it said that the decision is a new violation of international legitimacy, expressing concern over the measures taken by the Israeli authorities to undermine the possibility of a two-state solution.

Moreover, the General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) condemned the decision, considering it a brazen breach of international law and relevant UN resolutions, most notably Security Council resolution 2334.

OIC stressed that accelerating Israel’s illegal settlement creation and expansion drive, in the occupied Palestinian land, does not serve either the internationally agreed two-state solution peace process or the Arab Peace Initiative.

In the same context, France condemned the announcement, calling on the Israeli authorities not to implement these decisions, urging the parties to avoid any unilateral measures that could undermine the two-state solution based on international law and the agreed parameters.
