Read Time: 2 minutes

CONFERENCE

In October this year, Pan Africanists from all over the world will gather in Accra to mark the 80th anniversary of the 5th Pan African Congress, which was held in Manchester, the United Kingdom in 1945.

It is expected that participants in this very special event will be drawn from, trade unions, women’s movements, youth and students’ organizations, and political parties.

The event is being organized by the Pan African Progressive Front (#PPF) which is headquartered in #Accra and informed sources say that President John Dramani Mahama (

) will be invited to open the International Conference.

Prominent persons expected to make presentations at the event include Professor Ekua Britwum, a lecturer at the University of Cape Coast and Chairperson of the National Media Commission (NCM), Irvin Jim (

), General Secretary of the Metal Workers’ Union of South Africa (

), Fred Membe (

), Presidential Candidate of the Socialist Party of Zambia(

), and comrade Kafui Senaya, Secretary General of the West African Peoples Organization (#WAPO).

President Mahama’s association with the conference stems partly from his role as the African Union (#AU) Champion on reparations, his relations with the Alliance of Sahel States (#AES), and his publicly declared stand for Pan Africanism.

In all, about 300 participants will troop to Accra to discuss the future of Africa in these turbulent days of neo-colonial enslavement.

It is generally believed that the 5th Pan African Congress provided the vital stimulus for accelerating the national liberation struggles in #Africa and the ideological grounds for the building of the United States of Africa.
